We've come a long way in a short time. I was reading a book published in 1976 that was extolling the virtues of technological miniaturization. One of the great feats pointed to by the book was a television with only a 5 inch screen. Now, in 1991, we have them with less than 1 inch screens, such as the monitors in camcorders.
