On the Hawkesbury River near Sydney is an ancient Aboriginal rock carving depicting a ship reminiscent of a Phoenician Tirane - the type of vessels sailed by the Phoenicians & Egyptians from the Red Sea coast into S.E. Asian waters in search of trade & minerals, centuries before the first European explorers put to sea. Similar rock carvings by Aborigines have been found in the Kimberley1s, Arnhem Land and Cape York.
